Paul Mckenna in this chapter helps the reader understand why they have problems losing weight and there are three main reasons, emotional eating, obsessive dieting and having a brain that has been programmed to over eat for a number of reasons. It goes into detail about why some people are naturally thin and can eat as much as they like and not put on an ounce. I know a few people like this and it’s unbelieveable at what they eat and show no signs of putting any extra weight on. I always had this down to metabolism and presumed that I was just destined to be overweight.

He builds confidence in this chapter that it is not your fault and that there is a solution. It is just a matter of retuning your brain and habits to make you lose the weight and keep it off forever. Such an ideal thought to have and it would be fantastic if it was going to be true.

Through out the book Paul McKenna uses a lot of visualisation exercises, all part of getting your mind focused and determined to succeed. In this chapter you have to imagine how you would feel if you were at the end of your life and were still overweight and unhappy, then to think how you would feel if you had lost the weight. A very good start to a book that could change the lives of so many people.
