So I was there at 10pm, after a hard day and a pod cast for WebMaster Radio, watching Paul McKenna, and being taught how to undertake Thought Field Therapy. Along with the studio audience we were told to think about our favourite food… the food that we crave. So I pictured a huge bar of chocolate and then that really made me want some chocolate.

Paul Mckenna told us all then to tap about 10 times at various points of our bodies while thinking about the desired food, starting with above the eye…tap, tap, tap. Moving down below the eye and onto the collar bone…tap, tap, tap. Then under your arm, on the side of your hand, and finally on the back of your hand…tap, tap, tap… All the while thinking about the food you crave. Then you have to roll your eyes clockwise and then anti clockwise, then look down to the right then to the left, then back to tap above your eye… ( I think that was how it went, but it was all very fast) Anyway after a few more taps… I no longer wanted any chocolate! MAGIC!

It was either me starting to change my body’s algorithm or just by concentrating on tapping it distracted me from what I actually wanted.

hi i came across this site and would just like to say i also did the tapping thing and 2 minutes later reached for a chunky kitkat. Is it that this diet doesn’t work for me or i just have no will power which is what a diet is all about really WILL POWER and healthy eating.

    Hi Julie,
You probably didn’t do the TFT tapping long enough to reprogramme your mind that you feel good and that you don’t need the food that you crave. I think you have to keep tapping until the feeling goes away, so next time try the cycle and start again if you still feel the need to eat when you’re not really hungry.

I tried this technique while I watched the Paul McKenna show the other night and I was quite impressed with it. Yesterday I had such a massive craving for some Pringles..but I wasn’t physically hungry. So I followed the tapping process a few times and to my absolute surprise I was able to leave the kitchen and no longer craved the Pringles.

I am fascinated by the Paul McKenna diet and the progress being made. However being a little bit of a sceptic and successfully been on the Aitkins diet and lost over 3 stone over 5 years ago and not regained the weight,I do find it strange that tapping can create a situation of not craving your favourite chocolate bar!!! However I wait to be proved wrong.

    Hi
Even though the tapping technique seems a bit wierd it does work. I don’t really know why but I have also used it when I stopped smoking 6 months ago. It must be to do with tuning yourself into the body somehow and giving you a feeling of well being so you don’t need to emotionally eat or in my case, smoke.
I started this diet last week, probably with hundreds of thousands of others, and I am finding it relatively easy.

I was told about the technique nearly 3 years ago by one of those “gurus” who come into companies and teach people how to be positive and confident. He made us tap behind our left ear and apparently it turned us into “tigers”. Hmm, 30 of us sat in a room tapping behind our ears, it turned us into idiots!

I have linked to this page from mine, i am a fat bloke who is on a mission to be the man i always wanted to be… both in body and mind and to help me have started documenting it in my blog.

    Hi “Fatbloke”
Welcome aboard. So are you on the Paul Mckenna diet… what are you aiming at losing?

  8. 8 fatbloke

Well, i want to aim for 12 stone. So thats a loss of 3 stones. I use the technique, but i find that too much use and the effect wears off. So you have to use it occasionally.

  9. 9 Diet Trials

Fatbloke, I am in the same situation as you… except fatter! I started this after the Paul Mckenna show in the middle of Jan at 18 stone. My aim also is to lose 3 stone and so far I have lost 2 pounds short of a stone. But I must say my ability to stick to a diet is pretty bad. I have got down to 17 stone 1 pound last month but put 7 pounds back on.. but now have lost it again. Just done a new post today about the fact that I’m on a yo-yo diet.

  10. 10 Fatbloke

Same here, i talk about my experiences with yoyo dieting. Something nearly all people have to go through at least once to understand why it happens. If you ever need encouragement then give me a shout.

Cheers Fatbloke… I guess anyone who is trying to lose weight goes through very similar stages of great motivation to total lack of willpower.

    hi fatbloke

Have just joined the paul mckenna fanclub ha,ha. I brought the book and cd yesterday and am on my first day. My brother in law has been following the rules and has lost just over 3 stone. I have been on every diet known to man and am still 2 stone over weight. Being only 5ft all this access weight really shows. I would really like this to work for me but am a little sceptical of the cd but i will try it and see how i go. I seem to let my mind wonder off when i am trying to concentrate but i will relax and see if it can work for me. Wish me luck!!!!

  17. 17 Diet Trials

    Hi Daisy
At the moment i am not dieting exactly at all… i need to get back on to it otherwise any weight that i have lost previously will be back on again.. i just need motivation

  18. 18 Diet Trials

Daisy, Thats a good point… I am off to Centerparcs in a couple of months so I really need to get sorted for that. If I get started again now I should be well on my way by then. Hopefully then I won’t get mistaken for an inflatable in the pool. heehee

  19. 19 lauren

I did this technique because I craved cream cheese like nothing else (weird thing to crave I know)…I used to want to eat it ALL THE TIME.

I did the technique about 5 months ago and havent wanted any since.

I did buy some..but I never really enjoyed it the same, as I didnt have the same taste for it. Havent really been bothered about having it after that.

    So yeah it works! :)

  20. 20 lauren

PS: the reason this works so well (I think) is cos he tells you to tap these certain points. These are all pressure points that an accupuncturist would use..think about it..accupuncture is used to treat cravings. Its all about the pressure points.

I want to learn the TFT technique, what are the steps please?

    Thank you

  22. 22 Thirsty

I have decided to give this a go but not with food but wine… fingers crossed it’ll work though so far it doesn’t seem to help… Is there somewhere with the technique listed in detail as I am sure there is a singing bit needed which isn’t in the above listing?

  23. 23 Anthony McLernon

Hi there, i was looking through all the responses and just had to get my message on here. I first learned of the tapping technique on Paul Mckenna’s programme on tv, and quickly started to practice the exercise, 2 months on and i use it for ANY craving i want gone. To sum it up I have stopped smoking my usuall 20 a day, even at break times when half my office go out side for their cig’s i have a quick tap and the craving is gone. I have also stopped smoking cannabis which was a MAJOUR part of my life and one which i felt trapped, two days of tapping and all cravings of cannabis TOTALY GONE. Something i never thought i could achieve. Even on drunk friday nights when i’m staggering around contemplating a greasy kebab, i start my tapping and as usuall the craving has gone.

WOULD LIKE TO GIVE A BIG THANKS TO PAUL AS THIS HAS WITHOUT DOUBT CHANGED MY LIFE IN SO MANY POSITIVE WAYS!!

Hi, I discovered the book when browsing in a book shop and thought it made more sense than any of the many diets I have been on over the years. I read it in a day, started immediately and have lost 9lbs in the month since then…I havn’t needed to tap once so far!! i feel like a normal person!

  25. 25 Paul Harrison

Hi , i’m training in TFT at the moment, it’s actually quite complex and very interesting. I am using a very serious piece of kit called a Heart Rhythm Monitor developed by Hunter Kaine (search for Heart Math for more info) and this really shows that TFT has a strong effect.

It is all based on Accupressure but there are different algorithms for different problems, basically different places to tap and in different orders.

So far it seems to have a positive affect on 85% of people, apparently I can improve that rate with further training. Some people are not affected by TFT as certain food intolerances can block the effect. If you are lactose intolerant for example, and drink a glass of milk before treatment, it has almost no effect, waiting three hours and repeating the TFT shows a big difference on the monitor.

It’s a weird treatment, but it works, especially on phobias and cravings. If you book a session with a qualified TFT practitioner they charge around £50, but then you are shown how to treat yourself in future.

One basic thing to remember with dieting though, take in a few less calories and burn a few more, it really is as simple as that. Go up stairs quicker than you normally would, take one potato off that Sunday lunch, and make sure you eat breakfast as that gets your metabolism kick started! Slow but steady wins the race!
