In general I haven't been that successful with the visualisation techniques...i've never really set aside the time to focus on it, plus it makes me feel a bit daft doing it. I am very similar to you that I do just eat for the sake of eating, back to the old habits. I know what you are saying that you feel guilty and question whether you should have done it. I think we just need to get back on track and focus again....maybe use a bit of willpower added in with the Golden Rules, and we will get there in the end! Hi Helen

I must admit i read it in a day and am on my next reading. The miror test is at the end of the book - the one about looking through the eyes of someone who really loves you and feeling good about yourself. I'm finding that type of visualisation v hard. But you see this is my problem - i've got all the theory, but i'm still finding it hard to put it all into practice. have just come in from work and wolfed down half a box of chocs and 4 crackers and butter. i know nothing is 'bad' but 1. it's made me feel guilty and 2. was i really hungry? and did i eat consciously? Anyway, 5lbs was a bit of a disappointment, but your ve comments have made me feel so much better, Ta. You really need to finish the book! I must admit i read it in a day and am on my next reading. It's really nice to see that weight disappears when there hasn't been much effort involved isn't it? Which is the mirror test? I saw the part on the Sky One show about looking in the mirror and accepting who you are and not allowing yourself to be negative about your image. I'm only a few chapters into the book so may not have got to that one yet. If it will help me get back to grips with the diet can you explain more... thanks Hi Helen

Have justweighed after first 2 weeks and i too have lost 5 lbs BUT i don't feel any thinner! My weight fluctuates such a lot and this just proves it. I've followed much of the system, but am still struggling with the 1st rule and meal times. I so want this to work and yet i hear myself being so negative towards myself all the time. Have you been able to do the mirror test successfully? Anty tips? Well done you!
