Less About Me, More About Dieting
Published by Diet Trials February 15th, 2006 in Losing weightOk, so as I carry on the Paul McKenna diet there is not much to say on a day to day basis. I will carry on posting things that happen to me as I carry on the diet, and I’ll keep you up to date with my progress. I still have to get back to listening to the hypnosis CD to get me back on track. I have found that blogging about my experience has really helped me keep motivated… I just need to get my willpower sorted and get fully back on track with the Golden Rules. The hardest thing for me is that on this diet it is key that you don’t forbid any foods and eat what you want. To be this keeps coming back to me that I can just eat what I want, when I want…not like it should be taking into account my hunger levels. I still have more work to do!
Anyway while I have been on the Paul McKenna diet I have become increasingly interested in the whole dieting process and I am starting to research the various dieting methods that have become popular and will be looking at the medical developments on the weight loss front.

Am getting quite down about the whole process now as I stood on those forbidden scales on monday & i’ve put back on the 5lbs i thought i’d lost.
I too am a bit that I can just eat what I want and really cannot come to terms with my own hunger levels. When I looked at what I ate yesterday there’s an awful lot of fat involved - cheese, redmeat, butter, etc. and although that is what i truly wanted to eat , i can’t believe this is right.
Now… Paul says it is this sort of dieting mentality that has stopped us losing weight and keeping it off before, but i wonder how i can stop myself wanting to eat fatty stuff and wanting more eg fruit & veg and get a balanced diet(in the broadest sense of the word?)
I can see you may not have a lot to say on the subject if it is working for you, but what, if like me, 3 weeks is seeing no results? I SO want this to work, and loads of people say how easy it is - so what’s wrong with what i’m doing?
Wouldn’t it be great if posting this could get me the answers? However i do know it is mostly up to me!!
Keep posting, cos it really is good to talk!
Hi Helen
Thanks for coming back to Diet Trials… It is so good to hear how other people are doing. You sound a lot like me… I haven’t weighed myself for a week or so, mainly because my scales need some new batteries! I think that I will have put some back on, if not all! I was so motivated after seeing the Paul McKenna shows, but I have found that my normal life has started to creep back. I need to really get refocussed and back on track. I don’t know how many times I have said that over the last few weeks but I really need to.
I think for you, you need to really get to grips with your hunger levels. Ignore the fact that you are eating cheese etc, you have to eat what you want without any feelings of guilt. Paul Mckenna said an interesting point that if you think you are hungry then have a glass of water. It is often the case that when we think we are hungry we are actually thirsty.
Helen, I tell you what I have found quite useful for the diet, to stop myself eating foods that I knew I really shouldn’t be eating (even though yes we can eat what we want), is to not have it in the house.
I saw in an earlier post you were saying that you came in from work and had half a box of chocolates and some crackers. Simple solution… get rid of the chocolates, and have for your meal (only if you are hungry) the crackers with perhaps some cheese etc. The worst thing is when you feel hungry, and I do when I get back in from work, is just to raid the cupboards. I try to get home and then make myself a proper meal, it helps if you have something already made that is quick to get ready. Kepp going with it, it will work for you…it’s just a matter of retraining your mind!
