New Diet Pill - Acomplia / Rimonabant
Published by Diet Trials February 15th, 2006 in Diet Articles, Diet Pills, Acomplia / RimonabantThere has been talk for some time about a new experimental weight loss drug called Acomplia or Rimonabant. It is now being said that Acomplia or Rimonabant is getting closer to approval by the FDA.
The new drug has been undergoing testing and trials over the last few years. The tests with Acomplia against a placebo has shown that it is effective and does show sustained weight loss after two years of taking the drug. The overweight adults who took Acomplia had lost significantly more weight than those not taking Acomplia. The test also showed that it had increased the levels of HDL cholesterol which is good for you.
Acomplia or Rimonabant works by reducing the appetite, blocking certain receptors in the brain. Those that take Acomplia can expect to lose 10% of their body weight in a year. All sounds good to me. I know that dieting isn’t the way to go, and Paul McKenna is right in what he says about changing the way we look at food, but to me if I wasn’t hungry then I wouldn’t eat, or if my appetite was surpressed I may eat less. Plus if all I have to do is remember to take a tablet everyday, and I already have to to balance my thyroid level, then am I onto a winner?

This is such great news for people like myself that suffer from obesity and find it so hard to lose weight. I have been reading up on Acomplia for the last few months and I am delighted that it will be available, even if at first privately only.
The exciting thing about this new drug is that it has the potential to help stop you smoking as well as losing weight.
I will be sure to be trying out Acomplia.
ive got an appointment next week 13th july with doc i saw him yesterday but he had not read up much about it so hopefully next week i will get a prescription for acomplia that i am willing to pay for till available on nhs and will let you know the outcome.
Hi Tara, how exciting. Let us know the outcome
I ordered some online, but be warned they are expensive! I have been taking them for five days now & so far so good. I don’t feel hungry & no side effects. Obviously you have to calorie count & not carry on old habits, but it is certainly making it easy. I don’t feel I am obsessed by food for the first time in years & am getting on with the rest of my life! I will keep you informed how it progresses!
pippa - am happy for you to hear its going well so far. Which website did you order from?! Am scared of being ripped off!!
Jo
Hi. I am hoping to be given the approval from the doctor to take Rimonabant. After struggling for years with my weight and using it as a mental crutch I am hoping that this will help. I am also going to Slimming World and eating healthily. I have such a low self-esteem that as well as my physical problems I hope that this medication will finally help me to be in control of food rather than being the other way round.
Does anyone have any mental health problems and have been prescribed this? I’m not being nosey but this may be the one reason why I shall be turned down from having this as I have very bad anxiety-depression with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, (the trigger for me to start over-eating).
Hi Joanna,
I bought my Acomplia from UK Medix online. I had no problems at all, they are UK based and they only sell genuine medications. I had a few queries about Acomplia before I bought it and their doctors helped me out. I have used UK Medix before for Reductil but I didn’t have a great deal of success with it, mainly because I couldn’t help eating the wrong foods! I have been taking Acomplia now for 6 days and I feel a new person.
Hi Everyone,
I also bought my Acomplia from UK Medix and have been taking it for nearly a week now. At first I didn’t think it was working but I have noticed over the last few days I am not hungry like I used to be and I have already lost a few pounds.
Hi
You’ll have to let me know how this taking of Acomplia goes for you guys, I’m interested to see if it really works.
I’ve been taking it for almost two weeks now (online clinic). I’m about 6lbs thinner, I have still had to diet and exercise (but it has helped me to stick to the diet!). Only side effect is some very vivid dreams (you know what I’m saying!).
I’ve just started taking it this am. Feel little sick but sticking with it. Has anyone else had any symptoms?
I’ve got mine on prescription. Boots were very good and ordered it from the warehouse for me. Took 4 days.
If your having trouble worth speaking to your local chemist.
Good luck everyone.
Hi Kris
Did you just get prescribed then by your doctor. Did you have to go privately?
What was your precription charge, was it the normal £6 or so.
Sorry for all the questions but I am looking to get on Acomplia but I’m not sure how to really go about it and what it will cost me. I have been classed as clinically obese for many years now and desperately want to lose weight.
Any advice would be much appreciated
Julian
I was on the drug trial for Rimonabant. I lost 20lbs in 3months but I found it made me nauseous and very depressed. Personally I would rather be fat than ever get that depressed again, it was dreadful. If you are prone to depression I would be VERY careful with this drug.
Hi Julian
I’ve been under Professor O’Rahilly at Cambridge and he prescribed. As I don’t have to pay for prescriptions so cannot help you on that one, but, I would think if you go through your Dr. then through NHS you should be able to get it providing they fund.
Kris
Hi Kris
Thanks for the information. I suppose what I need to do really is to get myself to the doctors and see what he has to say.
How are you feeling today by the way as you were saying that you felt a little sick the other day.
Julian
I have just been to my GP this afternoon asking for Acomplia. I am now waiting for the chemist to locate it!!
Unfortunately I have Diabetes and am obese so the good thing for me is that it is available on prescription. I am anxious to minimise the side effects (I am already on lots of other prescribed meds) and any help with regards to when to take the medicine etc would be gratefully received.
hi i am 250 lbs can i also try acomplia….and where did i get it…
I have just started taking acomplia. I got it from acompliaslim.com and till now not seeing any kind of difficulties using it..hope it helps me to get back in shape
I’ve been taking Acomplia for a month now on the NHS - prescribed by my GP.
He seemed quite unsympathetic to my inexorable increasing weight. I can’t stop eating or feeling ravenous. It takes 2 or 3 platefulls of food to quench my hunger compared to a half or 1 plateful for “normal” people.
I read that Acomplia would block the brain that makes you feel ravenous. May have worked for me a bit - but I still feel ravenous in the evening.
I’ve managed to lose 1 stone in 1 month. I got another 1 month supply from my GP after him doing a weigh-in and checking I wasn’t “wasting” it.
No side effects so far in respect of despression. Slight nausea in some circumstances - for example, at Alton Towers Splashlandings last week the water chute made my head feel very weird when going round the corners, had to stop using the chute. But nausea is okay for me because at least it helps to stop me eating!!
I found that to lose any pounds at all I needed to eat about 25% of my “normal” daily food intake. So it is still very difficult and needs lots of will power - which sometimes I don’t have but will keep trying.
Another key factor is exercise. This I do regularly anyway - so for me it is not a big deal. But it is essential to try to do 30 minutes exercise EVERY day. And by exercise I am talking about something that raises your heart rate to an aerobic traning rate for your age (ie. 140 bps for me at 50 yrs).
I’ll let you know further results next month.
My best wishes and good luck to everyone trying to lose weight.
Hi Dave
Thanks for telling us all about your experiences with Acomplia. I’m not medical or anything but has the doctor not suggested that there may be something else wrong with you if you are constantly hungry. That can’t be normal, can it? Isn’t that a symptom of diabetes?
It sounds like you are doing well though and dropping a stone in a month is good going. What does the doctor say about what will happen when you come off Acomplia… will you just go back to how you were at the beginning?
Let us know how you get on and keep motivated.
I have been taking Acomplia for 14 days now and have noticed that I am not obsessed with snacking in the evening - I can have my dinner and then decide “No more” and although it is not without a modicum of effort it is now possible for me to resist eating again. I am so happy. No side-effects as yet. It is very expensive on the internet - about 200 Euro per month - I got it on GetPharma who I’ve used for various things for over a year - the site is a nightmare but they are reliable. Would love to source a cheaper supply!
Hi Jojo
I have been using UkMedix to get my Acomplia from. I started taking Acomplia about 6 weeks now and finding that I am losing weight and it’s not too difficult either.
It terms of prices and service, They are a really good site selling genuine products. The 1 month supply of Acomplia is £129.99 about 192 Euros, but if you buy 3 month at once which I’m going to do next it works out at £90 a month so about 133 Euros. Give them a try and I think you’ll be impressed with them. Click on the link to get to the Acomplia page.

cee
Hi Cee
Wishing you all the best with taking your Acomplia, let us know how it goes.
Hi guys
just to say that I have just been prescribed rimonabant by my GP. I asked for it over a month ago but he said that the practice hadnt discussed it yet. When I went back he said the rest of practice had decided not to prescribe it. He however would. My doctor is very open minded and excellent at his job. If anyone has problems being prescribed it you should take it further. It is availible on the NHS although as a last resort, in other words you have tried other treatmenst etc.
I would personally argue this, my doctor says I should be on blood presure pills and anti colestrol tablets most likely for life. But with a better diet, an end to smoking and plenty of excersize I believe I can avoid this. Taking rimonabant can very well help in achieving my goald and so avoiding a lifetime on other pils.
Remember guys you do have a say even if your NHS!
Hello Pippa and Joanna
Would like to know which website you are ordering from. Seems to be so many and I do wonder if the products are of reputable origin.
How are you both getting on with the new drug?
Hi,
I’ve battled with my weight for years now. I’ve recently changed doctors because my previous doctor wasn’t interested in helping me with my weight. The practice nurse at our new surgery has been really good (she’s big herself, so she understands). She is able to prescribe, but only with approval from a doctor in the practice. She has agreed to prescribe Acomplia to me on the NHS, but only after the practice doctors have received enough positive feedback from users. She has advised that this could take them approx. 4 - 6 months. I’m hoping that they decide to start prescribing it in the very near future. My weight does get me down and I desperately need help. I unfortunately cannot afford to purchase it privately at the moment. I have tried every diet under the sun, but with no success.
Have just been prescribed Acomplia today by my GP , wont pick them up till tomorrow.
Will let you all know how I get on with these. I need to lose just over a stone to start my IVF treatment and am having difficulty losing this last stone. Have been on Xenical for the past year and lost a stone and a half but am stuck now.
Hi
I have been taking acomplia now for 7 days, i had to buy them off the internet at £124.99 but i am fighting with my doctors about getting them on the nhs. My doctors did not know anything about the drugs and want to wait 2 years to see results. 2 years is a long time to wait when it is every persons right to have free nhs drugs. I have to wait till tuesday to find out if the district health auth will help. wish me luck.
can anyone let me know how they got them on the nhs
I have started taking acomplia today, prescribed by my very helpfull doctor, I was a bit apprehensive about some of the things I had read, but today has gone ok so far.Well i,m 58 and tried everything going, since 8yrs of age, if this works for me it can be classed as a true miracle
I picked up my prescription from the chemist for Acomplia today. I am so excited (but also apprehensive) to be starting it tomorrow. My doctor prescribed them for me as I have gained so much weight in the last 18 months or so as I have an underactive Thyroid. I have tried everything to try and stop gaining weight (even stopped eating altogether for a few days) nothing helped. I have so tried not to pin my hopes on this drug but I can’t help myself. The cost will be well worth it if it gives me my life back. Wish me luck.
Hello,
I started taking Acomplia on Sunday (yesterday) and was quite apprehensive (having read an article of a lady that developed psychosis and lost not only weight but also her partner…). I am doing OK, I guess, a bit nauseous and terrible insomnia. But I have only been on it for a day and a half, so it is early days. Can someone please tell me - how long does the side effects last? I can handle the nausea, but am not sure how long I can stand not being able to sleep.
I have also pinned my hopes on this, like some of you, as I have also tried it all and being overweight has really taken over my life - I am even embarrassed to go outside. I of course blame myself for looking like I do, so I guess it is only fair that I suffer to get rid of the weight…I am looking forward to hearing other people’s feedback and opinions - it is good to feel I am not alone!
Hi. Got Acomplia from GP today and going to start it tomorrow. I am also taking Prozac and Amitriptaline so we will see what side effects I get. I will let you know.
I have had some wierd experiences which I wonder if anyone else has had. I bought my first batch from GetPharma - terrible website but we have used it safely for over a year for Cialis. I was delighted with Acomplia - just a lovely feeling of being free of the slavery of my addiction to food. I was learning to eat to live - instead of the usual alternative. Then got a supply - cheaper from UK medics and the hunger was back, PLUS enormous, debilitating depression. in a quandry as am halfway theough the UK Medics batch - stopped 2 days ago. The first experience was so terrific but the depression is so bad.
I have been on the tablets now for just over a week, and I have found they have taken away the realy bad cravings for cake and biscuits, which has been my problem all my life, as Ive said for the past 50years of my life as I started with this when I was 8yrs old. I have not suffered any side effects that are a problem, apart from after about an hour from taking the tablet I get realy hot, but that could just be my age.
I would like to ask anyone else who is taking Acomplia if they get hungry towards the late evening. I take my tablet about 8am and by now, 9.30pm I am starving, although I dont want cake I do have to eat something does anyone else find they get hungry?
I have been taking Acomplia for a month now and I do find I get somewhat hungry later at night, but I don’t have the cravings for junk food that I used to. I can eat a banana and feel fine. My weakness is chocolate and I made my son a double layer chocolate fudge cake yesterday for his birthday. I couldn’t even stand to take a taste of it! I had absolutely no desire for it. I think this medication is going to be very popular. I also have no side effects at all. I have lost about six pounds, but I’m not exercising either. I’m sure it would be more if I could get off my lazy behind and get moving.
Sharon (USA)
HAS ANYONE TAKEN ACOMPLIA WITH PROZAC? ANY ADVERSE EFFECTS.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
John, I have been taking Acomplia with Paxil for over a month now, which is a lot like Prozac, and have had absolutely no side effects from it.
Sharon
Sharon, thanks a lot for your help. I am very happy to know that you have not had side effects. I wish you all the best in this new adventure.
John (Spain)
Been on Acomplia for 2 weeks now, after having been on Xenical for a year I thought that this was going to be a miricle but for me I haven’t found this to be the case. I have had a bit of nausea but absolutely no insomnia , I have never missed a nights sleep but with the hours i work this is hardly surprising. No depression but again , I dont have a chance to think about it much as I am too busy.
I am still hungry and am not sure if it is all in my mind or not as I still eat breakfast lunch and dinner , I am in 2 minds whether or not to go back to my doctor and ask for the Xenical back as I had better results.
Does anyone know if this is normal to still be eating 3 meals a day and still feel hunger ????
Hi Friends,
I am on my fourth day taking acomplia and I feel great, no side effects at all. I also take prozac 20 mgs. Please keep us informed about your personal experiences with acomplia.
Best regards to everyone.
John
i have been taking acomplia for a month and its not easy to say the least, i feel sick all the time like i could eat a 20 course meal and then when i do eat, the food i eat wouldn’t fill my two year old son! so yu think whats the point. And to top it all after a months perscription i went to get weighed to find that id put on 2 pounds!!!!!!!!
Hi all,
have just started accomplia today but purchased on-line rather than G.P. as want it more to help quit smoking and not gain any weight as about 1 stone over as it is. I have a question though, as i’m a little doubtful if the tablets i have are cosher, as they cost just £59.99 and i was sent them with no information leaflet with them. Could somebody please reply and confirm that the tablets are round and white with no name on the tablet itself, and if there is an adviseable time when to take. Many Thanks.
Hi Bev! That is a great price. I’d like to know where you got them if they are the real thing because I’m paying at least double that.
My pills come in a horizontal shaped box and the pill itself has the number 20 on one side, I guess for the 20 mg. It is hard to see. You may need to get under a light.
Also, I did get a leaflet inside my box. The pills come in blister packs that you punch out. I hope you got the real thing.
Sharon
Hi everybody,
I have completed my first week on acomplia. I have lost four pounds. No adverse effects at all.
John
Hi Sharon,
mmmmm, maybe i’m not convinced. Mine came in a little plastic container, and the pills are loose. I can’t see anything written on the side of the pill. Could you let me know if there is a correct time to take them. How long have you been taking them and do you think they work? I am only taking one a day, and wondering if anyone else using to aid smoking cessation. I got mine from stacker-shop.com, but there is also an £8.00 delivery charge on top.
hi bev! that doesn’t sound too good, unless they just take them out of the blister packs. i would be suspicious if i were you.
also, you are supposed to take it in the morning before breakfast, once a day, at least that is what i was told.
they are definitely working for me. i have totally lost my cravings for junk food and i hardly find myself hungry enough to eat period, but i do. i’ve been on them for a little over a month now. if you want the website where i got them, let me know, but they are quite a bit more expensive. i’ve lost about 8 pounds so far with little or no effort and i’m not exercising, yet. i also can see how they would work for smoking cessation.
sharon
Bev, I just visited the web site where you ordered your acomplia and it looks like they were selling the generic version of it (rimonbant?) so that is probably why it doesn’t look the same.
Sharon
Hi Arlene, unlike yourself I didnt do very well on Zenical, but I have found Acomplia my miracle, I have lost 13lbs in 4 weeks. How ever you ask does anyone else get hungry, well I do, I am ready for my meals, I have 4 a day, but the tablets stop my cravings for sweet things.I also follow slimming world diet as you still need to de watching what you have to eat and with the eating plan I can still eat lots, get weighed reliably on the same scales and get group help. The thing that Acomplia helps me with, I can stick to the plan, which I have never been able to do 100%. Let me know how you get on Arlene
HAS ANYONE WHO LIVES IN THE US BOUGHT ACOMPLIA? WHERE IS THE BEST WEB SITE AND THE CHEAPEST? I DID LOOK AT STACKER-SHOP.COM AND SO FAR THEY ARE THE CHEAPEST WITH THE COST AT $128.00
just ordered some tablets of bevs website Stacker-shop.com hope that they r safe and real. how r u getting on with your supply Bev because the do seem really cheap compared to other site i have visited.Sharon how r u getting on too.
Hi guys,
I have been taking diet pills for a number of years and I have tried lots of different websites and medications including Reductil and Xenical. Everybody wants a bargain and to not pay over the odds for anything but I would never touch generic forms of medications as are being sold at Stacher Shop. For starters online pharmacies are selling prescribed drugs so I feel more confident if I know my personal medical history is being checked in an online consultation, rather than just to sell it to me as long as I have a credit card.
After all diet pills can be dangerous if given to the wrong person so I always go to a site I can trust. In the UK I use www.ukmedix.co.uk , they have been around for years and they always ship quickly and are the cheapest for genuine medication. I would stay well clear of sites selling generic medications.. after all you’re never quite sure what you are actually taking.
Hi,
I was given Acomplia by my Dr to try for a month and I lost nothing.I have tried everything, even having a lap band fitted, only for it to be removed a year after because it never worked.I thought these new tablets sounded great but I am upset that yet again I have failed. What are people like me to do?Nothing works yet we know we can’t carry on like this.I want to live but my weight is killing me.Has anyone got any suggestions of what I can try? Thanks.
to kay,
dont be disheartened i have been on them now for nearly two months the first month i found really hard but stuck with the sick feeling and lack of eating only to find that id put on 2 pounds. i recieved a repeate perscription from my doctor and in three weeks have lost a stone, with still giving myself the old treat. keep trying!!!
Hi there,
I read your comments as I was thinking about trying Accomplia. (I also have tried every slimming club, diet and pills (xenical, phentermine) and find that everything works for a little while when I’m in a positive frame of mind but once I get down it all goes out the window and I put the weight back on again - and more !)
and I’m looking for something that really works.
I got a month’s supply from Online Clinic and have just started taking them. I was expecting a miracle but I do still feel hungry but not half as much as I used to.
I am eating healthier and haven’t pigged out on crisps or chocolate the way I normally would at the weekend.
I’m going to join a slimming club so that I’m getting weighed regularly and following a plan but I’ll keep you informed.
So far so good and I’m feeling positive !
I have been on acomplia for 2 months and i have not lost any weight despite exercise and diet. I am about 40 lbs overweight.
Why is it so impossible to make everything?
Hi,
I left a message back in August and just thought I would leave an update.
Since August I’ve been asking my GP to prescribe Acomplia to me (last resort to losing weight - tried everything else!) but he wanted to receive more positive feedback about it first before prescribing it to me. Well, I’ve had a breakthrough at last! I went to see my Nurse Prac on Wednesday morning last week (she’s able to prescribe) and thankfully the doctor had given her the go ahead to give me Acomplia.
I started to take it last Thursday morning (4th day now) and I feel fantastic! On Thursday (first day) I never felt any different, I was still feeling hungry and like I could eat a little orse lol, but Friday I started feeling that I wasnt craving food or sweet things at all. Normally when I go to the shops, I have to buy a chocolate (my addiction) to eat in the car on the way home, well I’m pleased to say I don’t even feel like eating chocolate. I’m only eating now when I feel hungry and thankfully it’s not all day like it used to be.
If they continue to work like they are now, I’m hoping to start living my life again soon. I haven’t had any side effects at all and I’m feeling on top of the world to finally feel that I have the potential to lose the very many pounds that I have to lose (about 70), so yes I have a loooooong way to go.
I wish everyone else who is taking acomplia or is going to be starting it shortly, the very best of luck and hope you have every success in the world.
Regards,
Chez
Hi Chez
Thats great news that you have finally been prescribed Acomplia and that you feel that it will help you.
Keep us posted how it goes over the next few months and how mmuch weight you manage to lose.
I’ve been taking Acomplia prescribed by my GP. Still need to lose another 20 pounds.
To Diana,
Yes I get starving in the evenings too.. Any food will do - meat, cakes, cheese, toast and marmite - anything! It is hells own job to keep the food input low.
To Linsay,
Yep I agree, it is torture. I’m amazed at how little food the body actually needs each day - about half a plateful for the whole day for anyone who needs to lose weight. Yes I’m serious. I know it’s hardly anything, but that’s the simple truth.
I have found it extremely difficult to cut down on food such that I am losing any weight at all. And by the way, this is with me doing 1 hour of strenuous exercise 6 days a week.
What I found was that when I started to cut down on my eating the only thing that happened was I went to the toilet less. I still got very hungry, and didn’t lose any weight. It was only when I cut down even more - to half a plate of food a day - that I started to lose any weight at all.
Still very very difficult to do. And I can understand why me and so many people put on weight. Food is everywhere and we expect to be able to eat at least 3 meals a day. Not a chance. It we are skinny (like one of my brothers and one of my children) then they need to eat every couple of hours - just to stay the same weight. But anyone who is putting on weight is different - half a plate a day is plenty I’m afraid.
I love food and this is really hard for me to discover.
The only solution now is to change my life so that it does not include food. Very difficult when I need to prepare food for the family. I’m trying to fill free time with activities that are away from food - I think it is the only answer.
(Sad to say my wife who has been to weight watchers told me that they measure daily food allowance in points and it works out that you can eat most things but just very small quantities and they sell a very highly priced dinner plate which is especially small (it’s what we call a side plate in our house). So it seems they knew this for a long time, and I had to admit to my wife that she had been right all along.)
To Kay:
So the bottom line is that it has helped me, but it is still very very hard.
Hi Dave-hants
Good to here about your experiences with Acomplia, it really helps let people know what to expect and also whether it works or now.
Did you find it hard to get prescribed from the doctor, most people i have spoken to have had to buying Acomplia online.
just a quick update:
start weight - 13.8 todays weight 11.10
im on my 4th lot of tablets but seems like longer and its been really hard the weight has stopped dropping off and i am struggling with food more and more, the cravings are creeping up on me and i am finding it harder to stop myself from snacking, and i can’t work out if its me getting bored or the tablets are not working some days i get it into my head that the tablets are faulty! im trying to uptake my excersise and keeping myself busy but with christmas creeping up nearly as fast as my cravings this christmas doesn’t seem like its going to be so jolly!!!! help if someone can
Hi Lindsay
Great news that you have lost nearly 2 stone.
With regards to the tablets, when you say you reckon that they are faulty where are you getting them from. Are you getting them prescribed by your GP or are you buying them online?
they are from the doctor but some days i can manage and some other days i find really hard
Hi Lindsay
How have you managed with Christmas and Acomplia? … or anyone else for that matter?
put on 3lbs over christmas hopefully lose it again, just shows how easy it is to put back on. i just hope that i can carry on loseing in 07. family and friends have been complementing me on my weight loss which makes it seem worth while. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
I have lost 1 stone in 3 months. I have put on half a pound over christmas. Has anyone experienced back pain? or memory loss?. Happy New Year to all.
Hi John.. good success on your weightloss. Is that right half a pound? that’s really good going over Chritmas. Even with Acomplia I ended up putting on 4lbs. Trying extra hard to get that off in the next few weeks.
With ref to back pain … i did get some in the first few weeks of taking Acomplia but haven’t had any for a while. Memory loss, nope don’t think so.
Hi everyone just thought I would give you an update as to how I,m doing,I have now lost 2stone 11.5 pounds trying for the 3stone when I go to my slimming class this next tuesday. For the people who struggle being hungry at night ,as I do I also follow slimming world diet, and you can eat loads of food, you cant say it doesnt work, I am the proof of eating loads and losing weight.the reason it didnt work before acomplia is because I couldnt control my desperate cravings for cake and sweets, well chocolate, but all that has stopped, I just get starving, and the slimming world eating plan allows you to eat loads check it out, the combination of the two things is working and Im losing ,and its given me a new lease of life, at 58, Ive just started Tai Chi classes, and thats amazing for me.I hope you are all doing well, and I pray it keeps working for me
Hi Diana, congratulations. How long have you been on acomplia?
Hi John I have been on accomplia about 18weeks, I did get my 3stone andhalf a pound at slimming on tuesday.I have a big problem I think winging its way, perhaps DIET TRIAL can answer it.I went for my tablets prescription today and was greeted by the doctor saying that the body that governs what tablets the doctor prescribes is trying to get people off accomplia,I asked was it cost but he could, or would not give me an answer, he said not to panic yet as it was still being looked into.I get on very well with it I have no side effects, and it does its job, I no longer crave for cake and sweet things, why then are they trying to stop it, I just got the feeling I wasnt going to get it for much longer.I am beside myself as this is the only thing that has worked for me in fifty years, its not fair and I know Im jumping the gun ,but I can see it coming.I will make it so publically known by any avenue I can because it just is not fair, has anyone got any ideas

PLEASE HELP

I will be curious to hear what your doctor has to say,I wish I could find out more, Im sure it cant be right that a doctor instigated me starting on acomplia, I hadn,t heard of it,and for it to work and then to to try to take me off it just doesnt seam fair.I know its not the doctor personaly who is saying this because he is as chaughed as I am at me losing this weight, but we willl see, let me know how you get on.Regarding the last bit of weight you have, I dont know what eating plan you have been following but at slimming world class we have what we call a speed week, which boosts the system, you eat what we call speed foods and it is used when you have small amount left or you have stood still, if you know anyone who has a book or you go to a class, it might help you shed that last bit.keep me informed thanks
To Diana
Congratulations again for reaching the 13 stone plus in such a short period. I’m afraid i can’t help you regarding why the doctors are thinking og getting people off accomplia because I get mine from Germany paying full price.
Could you please let us know what percentage of your total weight have you lost?.Thanks
Hi John, I have lost 3stone and that equates to about 16% of my body weight over exactly 19weeks now,in case I have to buy them, where do you get yours from and how much do you pay,I dont know about anyone else but the weight is very sensitive this week I put on one pound the first time ever a gain, and we have put it down to eating a load of grapes each night, there is no other reason, but I can see it will be very easy to put on the weight after it,s frightening,Regards Di

The prices in my last message are for genuine SANOFI-AVENTIS Acomplia tablets. I buy them from a german pharmacy and you must send your doctor’s prescription in order to get them. Details available to anyone. If you check you will find out that these are SANOFI-AVENTIS official prices. Regards.
Hi John, I also buy them in Germany at the same price. NOT FAKE. You get original acomplia boxes and stamped invoices by the Chemist.
I cant think why you are not allowed to give me where you get them from but if you could text me my mobile is 07944 323683 I am concerned about giving my email, not bothered about mobile, as there is so much difference in price have yours got the genuine blister pack and the name on your packet, because you are paying less than the NHS does and thats £55 for 28 tabs,I dont know how else to get your info, Regards Diana
Hi Diana
Not only my tablets are in the genuine blister and the name is in the packet but I can give you the labs article number 6965833 (for 98 tablets)which is on the packet. Those suppliers that charge abusive prices they won’t ask you to provide a doctor’s prescription. That does not mean that they are not selling genuine product only that the are not bothered about prescriptions just interested in making much more money. In Germany no prescription (by post) no tablets and the price has been fixed by the government. I have no interest in convincing people to buy where I do, I’m only trying to help you save a lot of money. Regards John
I live in Germany. Yesterday I bought a paket of 98 tabletten and I paid 257.62 Euro. Obviously we are talking about the GENUINE drug, what else could you get in a German Aphoteke.
I buy mine froom ukmedix like some of you guys - this is because i had a really bad experience last year with reductil from 2 other sites - one euro one who sent me fake pills and so i wend for another one based here in uk where you had to fill in details then be sent a text then fill in another form and it was all so complicated and the service was appalling that i eventually came across the reductil forum on ukmedixplus.co.uk/forum where everyone seems to have had similar problems - i tried them and they have been so reliable and it comes next day - so you dont have to worry about waiting too long.
Anyway apart from all that - it is working well for me but the only problem i have is that it is much slower than reductil - i do however feel that may be because i have already lost the majority of my weight as everyone says that it slows down as you have less to loose..
Any pointers to speed it up are well appreciated!
M
John, I am looking to get these for my obese teenage daughter after getting a doctor’s prescription if possible in the U.k. Could send me the details of where to order them at a decent price, the best I have seen on the net is £98.00 for 28, but I don’t know whether these are the genuine article.
Thanks in advance
Keith
Hi John thanks for the info I,m going to look now and see if I can find the site you are talking about, but it would be easier if you text it to me, so when I go to the doctors next time if he refuses to give them me on NHS prescription I presume I have to ask him for a private prescription.I have done a bit of detective work and apparantley it is the Primary Care trust for our area that is looking into it, I have written to them putting my point, but I dont suppose I will make a difference, when it comes down to finances.I,m just a small fish in a big pool.Regards Diane
Hi Folks
Just saw all your mail and found it very interesting and encouraging. I had found my GP to be sympathetic and as a nurse and medical rep was well armed with the data to support my case to be prescribed Redcutil last year. I requested Reductil as Acomplia was not available at the time. I found they worked ok for a week or so - nice to feel slightly nauseous and not want food. However, the effect quickly wore off. My GP upped the dose and exactly the same happened. I came off them myself and felt too embarrassed to return to the GP with all lost weight gained of course.
I have tried hypnosis and found this to be less than satisfactory - hypnotherpaists advertise hynosis then use anything but!! They try regression therapy - which is intersting but did not work for me and now NLP and Eye Movement Dissociation stuff - all interesting but not what I asked for!!! And at £65 to £85 a session I reckon online durgs are cheaper! Why does no one do good old fashioned hypnotic suggestion anymore to tell me I will only want to eat healthily and no more grazing all day on bad stuff?!?!
I want to try Acomplia and have just ordered my first month’s supply from an online supplier but find the prices they charge (around £125 ) atrocious for an online consultation. The actual cost of this medicine is less than half. If the meds work I will either ask my GP for an NHS script or failing this then a private one and buy at pharmacy2u which will fulfill private scripts much as John’s pharmacist does in Germany. The prices are closer to the drug cost to the NHS with an acceptable price for dispensing them.
I should receive and start my Acomplia tomorrow and have about 3 stone to lose.
I will post an update if that’s ok and of interest - Diane.
just started acomplia yesterday i feel fine, i dont quite know what is was expecting but i am relieved to feel fine. can anyone give me a rough idea how much weight i should lose approx in first month . starting weight 15 st. and do i still eat breakfast and tea? wasn’t hungery at all but it felt strange not to eat
Hi have looked into Acomplia as my consultant offered it to me today (on NHS) but I know I WILL NOT take it because from the studies it confirms what I already knew: you come off it and the weight comes all back on! so what’s the point? Unless this will be the first pill on earth you can take forever? (not likely).
Still, all the best to everyone who is using it or will use it, I’d love to see the above theory proven wrong and feel sorry I never took it.
Jo
HI John and Xavi, please could you also let me know where you get these at those prices !! I can get a private prescription form mny Doctor, but not an NHS one. Does it have to be a german Doctor ? My number is 07909905369. THank you, Jane
Hi, I’ve been on acomplia for a month on Tuesday. I haven’t lost any weight, no side affects I thought until now. My memory is terrible it was going before but has gone now and I’m only 31. I didn’t realise either but I haven’t been sleeping well. I keep waking up through the night. I don’t crave for food anymore. Don’t find the tablets difficult at all and the doctor gave them to me. I was on Xenical for two weeks before these and lost 6 pounds so got worried these weren’t working and phoned the help line for more information. They said it dosen’t usually start until the second month and it’s mainly inch loss. So here’s hoping. 15st 12 to start.
Hello
I have been on Acomplia for a week and not had any side effects. Completely lost my appetite and if I wasn’t diabetic would not miss food. I know that it is early days and I so want it to work/help me. I have many other health issues and take many prescribed drugs. My G.P. was really supportive and prescribed them with no hassle. I am very overweight and want to lose abour 10 stone, so way to go.
Pleased to have found this site and someone to talk to.
I have been reading all you comments and find it amazing that some people are losing a lot of weight in a short period and others are not losing any weight at all! I realise thatAcomplia is only an aid to help fight cravings but isnt it all about what you put in your mouth. I have been big for years now since I had my kids and I know I eat the wrong things at the wrong times. I am active and thank God I do not have High Blood pressure, Diabeties, High colestoral etc. But I am aware that I am at high risk as I get older(I am in my mid 30’s).I do not think my GP would perscribe Acomplia for me as she always refers me to the dietician who always states the obvious! But I do need to loose at least 5 stone! My problem is no will power! do you think Acomplia will help me shift the weight and is it really worth all that money buying it online?
Genuine advice needed please.
nicky, be patient i didnt lose first week and found my eating very strange, so i started to use the principals of the food doctor diet as you eat small amount all day, and everything is healthy unprocessed food and i have just finished my first month and lost 11lb, i’m thrilled i am on thyroid meds and havent been able to lose weight since the removal of my gland! but this is great
Hi gang,
just a word of caution to all of you out there.I was involved in the drug trial study being conducted through the va hospital in loma linda, california . I had been on the pills for 3 month. I was losing weight and doing well. I woke up one morning and noticed that my right hip felt odd, like I had bruised it or something. I ignored it for about a week and finally asked my wife to take look-see. She saw no bruise, so I checked it out more thoroughly, and found that I had lost sensation from my groin area, around the right bottock all the way to my left buttock, including my rectal area. A few days later I developed numbness in my left arm , my right thigh and both feet and lower legs. I stopped taking the meds on feb 8, 07 and the symptoms abated, somewhat. at first it felt like walking on pins and needles -0- you know what it feels like when your foot falls asleep, right? anyway, it only feels like walking on peagravel now, and my right leg is feeling better, sortta. My left arm, including the hand , is still almost totally numb.
I have been told that this sort of thing has affected others, also.No mention of this side effect is mentioned in any articles i have found so far. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS DRUG.
What an interesting site, it’a so good to read other peoples experiences. I have spent the last few months looking into surgery and have now ordered Acomplia onlind as a last resort before surgery, willing to try anything!!
I will post my results on here, Please Please Please God let it work for me!!!
Claire
I am on my 4th day taking Acomplia, and do you know what? Even if I don’t lose weight it will have been worth it just to stop smoking. I have smoked for over 30 years and I have had only 3 in the last 4 days - just dont want one - simple as that.
Did anyone ordered from www.4rx.com ? They have 30 pills for 80$
I think that I will try them even though they are made in India…
hi everyone its been a while i know my computers been down honest, just been looking at my last note and that my weight was 11.10 im now 10.10 and only have a few pounds to go woo oohhh didn’t think id done as well as that so the people that are knocking it or finding it hard keep going, i still have treats just excerise harder to burn it off. KEEP GOING
On my 13th day and I have lost 6lb so far. I am following a healthy diet, but the difference this time with Acomplia is that I don’t want to eat between meals. I have had no side effects at all except not wanting to smoke which for me is a brilliant side effect!
I bought mine direct from the suppliers at a cost of £124 for 1 months supply. I wouldn’t have felt comfortable taking anything I was not sure was genuine.
Hi
I have just been prescribed Acomplia by my very understanding GP. I go to Slimming World and have lost 2 stone in the last 5 months (I am currently 20 stone) but am struggling at the moment to stop eating the “bad things”. Luckily for me, prescription charges have been abolished in Wales for everyone so I don’t have to pay anything for it. Sorry for anyone else in other parts of the uk that have to pay nhs charges or pay privatly. I’m on my second day and feel ok - no cravings, but still eating as I was before (quite healthily)will keep you posted.
Hi again
Don’t know if anyone actually reads this but in the last 2 weeks I have lost 7lbs. bearing in mind that I started losing weight in November last year and was struggling after losing 2 stone. I am following the Slimming World plan and sticking to it very easily - its like I take a little pill of will power every morning!
Feel a little nausious at times but no other obvious side effects.
Polly
Hello Marina I’m hoping you and others will be able to help me.I’ve only been on the tablets for a week, haven’t had any side effects but haven’t lost any weight either.I identify with Marina and thought that she was a few weeks ahead of me maybe she could give me some encouragment.I need to lose about 7 stones on medical grounds, i have other medical problems one being diabetes and i take lots of medication.
Dianne.
I have been given acomplia for the first time from my doctor. I have hoped that I would loose weight quickly. I have been on this for 4 weeks now and have only lost 2 pounds. I did, as previous person ‘Polly’ go to slimming world, so I might try going back and still taking tablet. I do get the feeling of sickness, although I do feel a little low, not sure if this is due to tablets or work orientated. However, I do know what Polly means when she says a little pill of will power as I have started feeling that I can say no to some things that normally I would not. Still get cravings, but if I eat chocolate or potato’s I seem to feel fuller and dont need to eat either the whole bar or whole packet of biscuits as I normally did. Hope this is going to work so I shall certainly give it a try.
It’s me again, I have been reading other notes and it seems to work on a controlled diet. When I spoke to my Doctor I advised, I have tried all diets, tried the nutritionist, tried weight weightwatchers, slimming world (which I did loose on). The problem lies in being unable to control the eating when I start. I think we all know what we should or should not eat, its being able to control these bouts. When I started binge eating, then I would feel sick, depressed that I had eaten, so it was a viscious circle. In the end I was desperate and felt the only thing that would work would to ask for a staple in my stomach. My Doctor said try these tablets, it does state that you need to be on a diet for them to work, I advised my doctor ‘if thats the case then anyone will loose weight if you have to be on diet’ but I think I am understanding now how they work, its ‘the will power point’ it does not make it so that you never eat something you should not, but gives you that little extra to say ‘no’ so I shall try this avenue and come back in one month to let you know the results. good luck to all those who are trying, hope we all find a way to achieve our goals. Sheila
Hi Sheila
There is no miracle (if only there was) anyone can follow slimming world and lose weight - its having the power to say no to the usual cravings - I am in my 5th week on acomplia now and have lost 13lbs on top of the 2 stone I had already lost at slimming world. I feel great and am looking a lot better and feeling a lot fitter - I have about 7 stone still to lose and for once in my life I am not dreading trying to lose it. I hope acomplia continues to have the same effect on me.
Good luck to you Sheila
Polly
Hi,
, but I am using it in conjunction with good old fashioned calorie counting. I’m using an online food diary through www.weightlossresources.co.uk which is fab, you put in all your details, height, weight, age, sex, activity level etc and it gives you a daily allowance, you then fill in your diary and it had a massive database of food and it works it all out for you, you just need to stick to your allowance (I’m hoping the acomplia will stop the snacking.
I’m on day 2 of Acomplia (via GP) obviously no weight loss yet
I would like to say to those on slimming world, I used to do it but I found it stopped working after a bit (lost 2 stone to begin with then it just stopped working and I still have 4 stone to go)
I entered a “Syn Free” green day into the database on the new website and it came back as nearly 3000 calories for 1 day, which was rather shocking seeing as my new limit to loose 2lb a week is 1750 (no wonder it wasn’t going anywhere)
Anyway enough of the essay, just glad to have found an other people on acomplia I don’t think there are many of us yet. I’ll let you know how I go on
chloe
Thanks Polly
I am finding at present that I am suffering from a sickness feeling and sometimes feel like vomiting! I also find that my memory is not as good as it used to be, or it may be that I have read the side effects and I am thinking that it associated. My sleep patterns have never been great, but I also have a little trouble sleeping, as I am typing this in the middle hours of the morning. It is great to talk to people on this website and discuss the drugs progress in our normal everyday lives. I am so please for you that the tablets are working for you, which gives me hope. I have around 4 stone to loose, but I would be happy with a loss of two. I am going back to slimming world so I will let you know how I get on. Keep it up and I am sure the way things are giong you will reach your goal! marvellous. Many thanks Sheila
Hi All,
I’ve just spent the last half hour reading through all your messages.
I was about to order my Reductil and recommit myself to losing weight but then i saw that this pill was available and wanted to know more.
I want something that will have an immediate effect in losing the pounds as i need to lose 3 stone in less than 3 months and set in place a healthier lifestyle. The only thing is, i’m nervous about the side effects that some of you have spoken about.
I already have trouble sleeping and have bouts of depression so i don’t want to make these worse. I’m desperate to lose weight but i’m not sure what to do!
Hi Natasha
I hope you find acomplia works for you - but you need to be realistic about your goals - to lose 3 stone in 3 months is achievable but most people that lose weight that quickly put it back on even quicker - I know I have been there several times!

I tried Reductil a few years ago but found it only affective for a few weeks. You really do have to keep to a weight loss plan for acomplia to work - it just gives you the edge to stick to whatever plan you are following.
Chloe - I know what you mean about the green days on Slimming World - they are absolutely no good for me - I stick to the Red (original) days which limits carbs - and find this works well for me - we are all so very different!
The side effects that I experienced at the beginning were mild and have no disappeared.
Polly
Hi Polly,
Thanks for the advice. I’m always one to aim high, but i know that 3 stone is alot to lose in the timeframe.
Your comments were helpful for me to sort out in my head exactly what i want to achieve.
I was in a car accident and need to have an operation (before i get married next April) but they won’t do it unless i lose 3 stone and give up smoking so accomplia was an obvious choice considering the recovery time i’ll need aswell. I want to live healthier and can’t do that while i’m so heavy and tired all the time. A weight loss boost just seems the all round solution to get me going and get my op even though i have to buy it myself.
As for my weight loss plan this week is the start week for both the GI Plan (it seems a really balanced way of eating) and a new gym which has a pool so i can save my joints and swim a little as well as all the other gym stuff.
I wanna get started with something that’s gonna work quickly and i know that it will be up to me to change my life habits to keep it off. I’m just feeling a bit down and need a drastic change.
Thanks

Hi Everyone!
I stumbled across Acomplia by accident. I am diabetic, insulin resistent,PCOS with tons of fertility problems!! At the moment i am living in france and i went to see a diabetic specialist here and i broke down about my weight and how bad i feel about myself, the doctor mentioned these tablets and so i have been on them for 8 days now. I do feel sick with them but im hoping that will fade with time. The one thing that concerns me is that i am also on prozac and it mentions about depression being a side affect of the tablets and that if your on medication for depression then dont take the tablet as no clinical trials have been done with people in this situation. My dislike of the way i look and feel outweighs the worry of what will happen with the side affects. I have been overweight all my life and have been trying all my life to lose weight. I have decieded to have my stomach stapled and so in france you have a to have a year of tests and trials etc before they will consider you. I’m not sure if i have lost any weight in the last 8 days as i keep weighing myself daily and it changes slightly!!! I know i shouldn’t but i’m excited and feeling positive! Like everyone else has said, im no longer thinking about food 24/7 i can get on with my day and then realise that several hours have gone by without me snacking or even thinking of food. If i could lose this weight it would help with all my medical probelms and hopefully i might even concieve after trying for 19 years!!

Hello Dianne
Just read your message and hope all is going well. It is so hard when other conditions (mine being.. ME, Undreactive thyroid, Parathyroidism,Diabetes, Arthritis) and meds confuse/hamper our efforts. I have been taking Acomplia for 11 weeks and have lost 14kgs!!!!. I have been ill for 10 years and the weight has crept on as I became less mobile. I still cannot exercise but hope to as the weight goes.I think Acomplia does give you will power and it does stop physical hunger pangs. I still dream of food. A well balanced diet has to be followed, it is no wonder cure. I still have bad days but find it impossible to eat the quantities that i ate before. I continue to be hopeful so I will post a message next month. Good luck.
