What a weekend! I recently moved house a few months ago and there still seems endless jobs to do, but sometimes it is hard to get motivated to get them done. This weekend was different. I woke up and knew that I would tackle the junk that we have ended up storing in the garage that needed taking to the tip, like old carpets that we had to rip out of the house and boxes etc. I certainly felt like I had done plenty of exercise after I had done 2 runs to the tip with huge rolls of carpet!

As it was a lovely day we all ended up in the garden, that was pretty overgrown when we moved to the house. The kids were playing football, my wife was digging the borders and I started to hack a huge overgrown bush down. We must have spent a good 4 hours outside working. Because I was outside and busy food never crossed my mind and when we came inside we all really enjoyed a roast dinner. My aching body told me that I had done plenty of exercise.

Sunday was much the same, we were outside for the majority of the day, but this time we could enjoy the fruits of our labour. On Saturday I had dragged the gas barbeque out onto the patio and had a mad idea to have a barbeque! On Sunday morning we woke up and looked outside to a thick frost… but within a few hours the sun had come out and it was turning into a warm day. We went and bought some steaks, sausages and salad etc and invited some family round and got the barbeque lit. What a great afternoon we spent in our garden having a barbeque and drinking beer! Later on in the evening I tackled some cracks on our bedroom wall that had been hidden by the previous grotty wallpaper and even started to repaint the walls. I was still working at 8 o’clock. I think if I keep this motivation up, the weekends will be times when I can get some extra exercise in, plus get on top of my list of jobs to do. My only problem looming is my trip to New York next week for a conference which will throw me out again.

It doesn’t seem like I have been on the Paul McKenna diet for 6 weeks now. I know that I have faltered from time to time but in general I have much better control over what I eat. A classic example of this was the other night, a few hours after I had had my evening meal, I felt like I needed something else to eat. I was good enough, or maybe it was laziness, not to go into the kitchen on the hunt for a snack. I felt very good the next day not to have given in to this craving.

For the last few weeks I haven’t weighed myself, partly because my scales needed new batteries, but mainly because I didn’t really want to know how much I had put on during my lapse times. Anyway on Sunday I thought I would just step on the scales to see if the batteries had gained any life into them magically! To my surprise / horror the scales were working so I thought that I better continue the weigh in process since I was now stood on the scales. Hurray! I was down to 17 stone 7 pounds. I had lost another 2 pounds since my last weigh in back at the end of Week 4. This extra 2 pounds has really surprised me as I was sure that I would have put some weight back on. So all I need to do is keep going and slowly I will keep losing weight. I think this has been helped by the extra exercise that I had on Saturday.
